We won’t have snipers hunting you down, but we have seen camouflaged troops appear from nowhere. While this is not the shortest drive it is a fun good course with climbs and fun descents. This venue has been known to be windy and chilly (yea, even in AZ). This race is also worth 1.5x the points, to help entice you south.
NOTE – this is a MILITARY BASE. You will be required to have valid vehicle insurance, valid registration, valid driver’s license to enter the the Fort. Non-US Nationals require Special Escort and are discouraged (If they have a Valid US Drivers Lic that is not generally an issue).
NOT ALLOWED ON BASE:
No firearms – Fort Huachuca does not recognize CCW Permits.
No Drugs – Bomb Dogs are often at the front gate.
No Smoking anywhere outside of a vehicle or designated area.
No open fires.
Interstate 10 East to Exit 302, which is State Route 90 to Sierra Vista & Fort Huahuca. South on State Route 90 and it will lead you to the Ft. Huachuca main entrance.
Inside the gate- travel ~2 miles to Irwin, take a RIGHT on Irwin. Take Irwin to Hatfield, take a LEFT on Hatfield. Take Hatfield to Smith, take a RIGHT on Smith to a round about, take your 2nd exit on the round about (almost straight) go past Buffalo Corral, then Wren Arena will be on your LEFT.
Camping IS available for Friday and Saturday with departure Sunday by noon, heck they even let us use the showers sometimes. No open fires at this time. Gas grills are OK, this rules may change based on fire conditions. Trash-Pack it in Pack it out.

$20 First timers (1x only)
$20 Juniors (18 and under, price never changes)
$40 Early – up until Sunday at 11:59pm week of the event
$45 Ontime – Monday 12:00am until Thursday 7:00pm
$55 Late & Day of registration – Thursday 7:01pm until 30 min prior to race start
All Cat 1 and Pro riders MUST have a valid USAC license – no exceptions.
All Cat2/3/Marathon/Rock Crusher/Single Speed/Jr riders must either have a valid USAC license OR purchase a 1-Day license for an additional $10.
What does paying USAC do for you?
By having a 1-day license (or annual) this provides:
Insurance for you (and us) for the event
Allows you to earn points towards qualifying for nationals
Allows us to be called a state championship series
Awards are 3 deep per category (categories are shown below under FAQ)
Payouts are for Marathon and Pro categories only and will be 5 deep for both males & females.
1st = $100
2nd = $90
3rd = $80
4th = $50
5th = $25
Pro = Professional cyclist, gets paid to race professionally
Expert = (previously Cat 1) = Wicked fast, seasoned racer.
Intermediate = (previously Cat 2) = dang fast = not just a weekend warrior, usually rides quite bit
Beginner = (previously Cat 3) = relatively new to the sport.
First Timer = Newbie = new to the sport, never raced with MBAA or has no experience with mtn bike racing.
Single Speed = 1 gear bike = one gear on bike, likes to suffer (our kind of folks)
Masters Men 60+ = older gents, 60+ years of age
Rock Crusher = Gents 200lbs or more
Marathon = long distance rider = 3.5hrs or more per race, likes to suffer, not right in the head (most definitely our kind of folks)
Jr = Ages 8-10, 10-12, 13-14
Kid = tot = little one (6 & under) that likes a short, free race
Military = only available at Sierra Vista – anyone that is active current military (must show id) – race is FREE!
RACE AGE is based as of end of 2015.
Every great event is not possible without the help and support of outstanding volunteers. Volunteer hours are logged and will count towards team standings. Red arrows = Coyote ~5 miles – GPS
Follow the red arrows on the Coyote trail, this is approximately 5 miles per loop.
Green arrows = Jackrabbbit ~3 miles – GPS
Jackrabbit is marked with green arrows and offers up a little climbing and some fast fun sections too!
Blue arrows = Turkey ~2 miles – GPS
Hey Turkey….2 miles of trail that you MAY just see a turkey on.
Black arrows = Bobcat ~5 miles – GPS
The marathon course will be marked with black arrows, marathon athletes will compete for approximately 3.5hrs per race.
RACE DAY SCHEDULE:
7:15am – Registration/Check in open! – Bring ID, be patient please.
8:30am – Marathon start
All athletes must check in/register 30 min prior to their start times

Course will be marked, however per USAC riders must know the course (maps are above)
11:15am – All registration shutdown
12:00p – Kids race registration – Giant Scottsdale Tents
1:00p – FREE Kids Race
~Noon* – Awards for Wave 2
~2pm* – Awards for Wave 1, 3, 4
*Whenever possible, we will do awards as quickly as possible, thus times may be earlier. We will do our utmost to meet (or beat) awards times.
